Lamb Automation

Lamb Automation

Scott offers a range of products custom-built for the lamb processing industry. Lamb processing has unique specific characteristics, which means equipment from other industries are not transferable to the lamb environment.

Product Variability

The highly variable nature of a lamb carcass has always been a challenge that other machinery manufacturers have struggled with. Scott's line of lamb processing products are specifically designed to automatically adjust to the the full range of product sizes and shapes.

Yield

Lamb is a high value meat product, so minimising waste and improving cut accuracy beyond human capabilities allows Scott's equipment to add to the per carcass bottom line. It adds value in many productive ways, including:

  • No saw dust - Saw dust waste from band saws is a hygiene problem, but Scott's products use circular blades which turn this loss into yield.
  • Improved cut accuracy - Automated vision and X-ray systems can position dangerous and heavy cutting equipment to cut far more accurately than a human can. This means more yield on your higher value cuts and no claims for cut specification.
  • Know your raw material - Successful lamb processing hinges on selecting the most profitable cut for each carcase. Scott offers technologies which allow the processor to automatically measure the yield of cuts within the carcase before it enters the boning room.

Safety

Band saws, heavy lifting, repetitive strain injury and other occupational safety hazards are common in the industry. Scott's range of machines remove human operators from dangerous processes.

Staff Flexibility

Training and retaining skilled staff is an ever increasing pressure throughout the industry. Scott's line of products remove the difficulty and danger from many tasks within the boning room. Tasks with a high training overhead such as band saw operation can be eliminated.
